So what is St Patricks Day?
St. Patrick’s Day is a cultural and religious holiday celebrated on the 17th of March, and named in honour of the patron saint of Ireland. The festival commemorates the arrival of Christianity in Ireland, as well as celebrating Irish heritage and culture. St. Patrick’s Day is now celebrated by many people throughout the world, Irish and non-Irish alike, with food, drink. The most common St Patrick’s Day symbol is the shamrock. The shamrock is the leaf of the clover plant and a symbol of the Holy Trinity. Many people choose to wear the colour green and the flag of the Republic of Ireland is often seen in St Patrick’s Day parades around the world. Irish brands of drinks are popular at St Patrick’s Day events.
